Wichita Falls to host Six Man All-Stars…. First Female Athlete Ever to Play Football
Wichita Falls will host the Texas Six Man Coaches Association Conference, All-Stars Camp and Games beginning the week of July 13. The Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Wichita Falls Sports Alliance were successful in winning bid to host this event for five consecutive years, which began in 2014. According to Sammie Hatfield, Wichita Falls Sports Sales Rep, “The event will not only bring All-Stars, Coaches, families and friends to the community creating a tremendous economic impact, it also provides a fabulous opportunity to showcase Wichita Falls, Midwestern State University and the surrounding communities.” In addition to the All-Star activities, the Six Man Coaches will hold their annual conference beginning on Wednesday. Over 400 Coaches expected to attend the conference and activities. They will be staying at several local hotels with their conference to take place at the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall (MPEC).
Approximately 145 All-Stars Players and Coaches will begin practice on Monday, July 13. The group consists of 4 football teams and 4 basketball teams; Division I East, Division I West, Division II East and Division II West. Basketball will feature both girls and boys teams representing East and West. Basketball practices will be held at the gym facilities at Midwestern State University, while football players will be practicing on artificial turf fields at City View and Iowa Park stadiums. The All-Stars will be housed at MSU; however, they will get opportunities to see some of the local attractions during their evening social events.
The 2015 All-Star Games will be one for the record books; for the first time ever, a female athlete has been selected to play football representing the Division I East Team.
