Museum Day Stroll 'n Roll
The Wichita Falls Museum Coalition is pleased to announce the date for this year’s Museum Day Stroll ‘n Roll. The free event will be held Saturday, September 14thfrom 10:00am to 5:00pm and will feature eleven area museums and attractions and one historic site. A new stop on the Museum Day route this year will be the Wichita Falls Downtown Farmer’s Market. Also back again this year will be Museum Day co-partner, The Red River Valley Tourism Association.
25 of the association’s 53 member cities will welcome visitors to their museums, galleries and points of interest: Bonham, Denison, Duncan, Henrietta, Jacksboro, Nocona, Paris, Quanah, Medicine Mound, Roxton, Saint Jo, Seymour and Vernon. Stops in these cities will include the Sam Rayburn Library and Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, Fort Richardson State Park and Historic Site, Horton Car Museum, Hardeman County Jail Museum, and many more. The featured museums on this year’s tour in Wichita Falls include the Hotter’N Hell Hundred Clubhouse, Juanita Harvey Art Gallery at MSU, Kell House Museum, Kemp Center for the Arts, Museum of North Texas History, Wichita Falls Art Association Gallery, Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU, Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, WWI Call Field Aviation Exhibit, Wichita Falls Fire and Police Museum, and Wichita Falls Downtown Farmer’s Market. The historic site on the tour is the Riverside Cemetery, a picturesque cemetery with tree lined roads and pathways leading to the resting places of city leaders, honored members of the military, philanthropists, business leaders, industrial innovators, pioneers, politicians and the infamous.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Travel Information Center located on Interstate 44 in Wichita Falls for directions to any of the participating Wichita Falls locations as well as directions to the Red River Valley Tourism Association participating communities.
Free shuttle service will again be offered beginning from the MPEC, 1000 5thStreet, to the eight downtown area museums and attractions and the Riverside Cemetery. The WWI Call Field Aviation Exhibit, Museum of Art at MSU, Juanita Harvey Art Gallery at MSU and Red River Tourism participants can be reached by private vehicle.
